New Zealand Nationals Are Now Eligible To File For E-1 And E-2 Visas
Beginning June 10, 2019, Nationals of New Zealand are now eligible to file for E-1 nonimmigrant trader visa and E-2 nonimmigrant investor visa. New Zealand was recently added to the list of treaty nations eligible to file for the E nonimmigrant visa classifications. The E visa is open to citizens of nations with which the United States has a treaty of commerce or trade, or where Congress has designated the eligibility of certain nations for the E visa.
A New Zealand national may file a change of status to an E visa if in the United States. Or the national may file for a nonimmigrant E visa abroad by filing form I-129. E visa applicants and holder may also petition for their spouse and children under the age of 21, as dependents. The visa allows holders to live and work in the United States, subject to certain restrictions.
